Libby Walker is a Scottish landscape painter based in Glasgow.
She graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2009 (BA Hons Illustration) and went on to establish a career as an illustrator, working with clients including Jo Malone, Ibis Styles, Hilton, RSPB, Chivas Brothers and University of Glasgow. Alongside commissioned work, she developed a body of illustration rooted in place, particularly Glasgow, focusing on everyday architecture and local environments.
Between 2018 and 2021, she ran a studio and shop in Glasgow’s Southside, presenting her work on a range of products and prints.
Her practice has since evolved into a focused exploration of landscape painting. Working primarily in oils, Walker paints en plein air as well as developing larger studio works from on-site studies. Her paintings explore atmosphere, light and movement, and the emotional experience of place, painting outside charges the painting with this time spent and experience.
Based in Glasgow, her work is shaped by the shifting relationship between urban and rural environments. Scotland’s proximity of city, coastline and open landscape informs a practice rooted in movement, observation and return.
All locations depicted are places she has spent time in, with paintings informed by direct experience of weather, light and changing conditions.
In 2025, she was a finalist on Landscape Artist of the Year, marking a significant point in the development of her painting practice.
Alongside her studio work, she runs small-scale art classes from her Glasgow studio.
